What mirror installation actually involves
Hanging a mirror well is a wall problem as much as a glass problem. Walls are rarely flat or plumb, outlets and sconces land where they land, and a heavy panel needs support that will still hold in ten years. We measure the opening on site, check for level and out-of-square corners, and plan the mount before the glass is ordered.
That measure is also where we catch the things that ruin a DIY install: a backsplash edge that the mirror has to clear, a light fixture that has to come off first, a tile wall that can't take adhesive alone.
Removing the old mirror
Most replacement jobs start with a glued builder mirror. Getting it off the wall without tearing the drywall face is the difference between a clean swap and a drywall repair bill. We remove it, haul the glass away, and prep the wall so the new mirror sits flat.

- Do you install mirrors I already bought?
- In many cases yes, as long as the mirror is a safe size and thickness for the wall it's going on and the edges are finished. Send a photo and the dimensions and we'll tell you before we come out. If it isn't safe to hang, we'll say so rather than install it.
- How are mirrors attached to the wall?
- It depends on the wall and the weight of the glass. Common methods are mirror adhesive with mechanical support, J-channel and top clips, or Z-clips for heavier panels. Drywall, plaster, tile and concrete block each need different anchoring.
- Can you remove and dispose of an old mirror?
- Yes. Removing a glued builder mirror without cracking the drywall behind it is the part most people underestimate. We take the old glass away and leave the wall ready for the new mirror.
- Do you install mirrors over tile or backsplash?
- Yes. Tile changes both the anchoring and the layout, since the mirror usually has to sit above or land on a grout line cleanly. We check that during the on-site measure.
